Sweet Wednesday – where T-girls, crossdressers and admirers meet
Safe, welcoming and discreet, Sweet Wednesday is a midweek daytime club for trans girls, crossdressers and their admirers, male and female. All genders are welcome.
It’s also one of the best places in London for a first time out dressed. Everyone has a first time, and everyone here is sympathetic to it. Plenty of first-timers come as an admirer, then come back dressed on their second visit.
When and where
- Every 1st and 3rd Wednesday, 1pm–8.30pm
- Central Station, 37 Wharfdale Road, King’s Cross, London N1 9SD
- Entry: £20 in trousers, £10 in a frock. Cash only
- Come and go as many times as you like
What’s there
- A changing room with its own loo, plus a professional makeup artist in the afternoons (£45)
- A staffed cloakroom, with small zip bags for your phone, keys and cards (£1)
- The basement club, with play spaces, dark areas and a bar at public bar prices
- A secluded roof terrace, where you can smoke
- A ground-floor public bar serving food until about 9pm, with free pool. It stays open until midnight, so you can stay on after the club closes
- Hotel rooms upstairs if you’d rather not travel home
The rules
No means no. No drugs, and no soliciting. No phones or photos in the basement club. The public bar and the roof terrace are shared with the public, so dress for a public place up there.
Nervous? Don’t be. Just leave any attitude at the door.
