Sticky Bits Café is a welcoming not-for-profit LGBTQ+ community café located within LGBThq in the heart of Carlisle. Created for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer and wider Cumbrian community, the café offers far more than food and drinks—it serves as a safe, inclusive social hub where people can connect, access support services, and take part in community activities.
Visitors can enjoy a selection of freshly prepared hot and cold drinks, cakes, light snacks, and affordable refreshments in a relaxed environment while meeting friends, attending support groups, or simply taking time out in a welcoming space. Every purchase helps support the café’s community projects and the ongoing work of LGBThq.
The café also acts as the public face of LGBThq, providing access to a wide range of free LGBTQ+ services including information and advice, counselling, social groups, youth projects, hate crime reporting, outreach programmes, and community events. The centre is home to organisations such as Pride in North Cumbria (PiNC), Cumbria LGBT Pride, anti-bullying initiatives, and other local charities supporting LGBTQ+ people across the region.
Regular activities include monthly quiz nights, men’s and women’s social groups, trans support meetings, youth sessions, fundraising events, and volunteer opportunities, helping to create a vibrant, supportive community for people of all ages. The venue also offers affordable room hire for charities, community organisations, workshops, meetings, and support groups.
Whether you’re looking for a friendly café, somewhere to meet like-minded people, or a place to access LGBTQ+ support and community services, Sticky Bits Café provides a warm, welcoming environment at the heart of Carlisle.
