Pandora occupies a former shoe warehouse on Ledgard Way in Armley, west Leeds, sitting to the left of the car wash with sixty floodlit parking spaces in front of it. The building’s industrial past has not been entirely disguised, and that is worth saying at the start, because the scale of the place is the whole point: three floors of it, with a wet area and sixteen playrooms.

It is a members-only club, run by manager Samantha Benson, and it opened against a wave of local objections before winning longer licensing hours — until 2am on Friday and Saturday, midnight on Thursday and Sunday. Sam’s own framing is that a club is a safer and less pressured setting than meeting strangers at home, and that she has a duty of care to everyone who comes through the door. The Pandora club’s rules read like someone has thought about that rather than copied a template.

Two things decide whether Pandora suits you, and neither is obvious from the website.

The first is how membership actually works, which is stricter than most and considerably cheaper.

The second is the top floor.

Membership, prices and getting in

Pandora is annual-membership based, and the fees are low: £5 for single ladies, £10 for couples, £5 for trans members and £40 for single men, each for twelve months. Every new membership carries a three-month probation period, and the club reserves the right to cancel. Photo ID is required on your first visit and you must give a verifiable address.

The routes to get in are not the same for everyone. Couples and single ladies apply and are processed within about seven days, after which a membership number arrives by email. Single men can only apply online — not at reception, not on the door — and each application is assessed individually, with an interview stage, taking up to a week. The club accepts a limited number of single-male memberships deliberately, to hold the ratio, and asks men not to turn up until the confirmation email arrives. A man who is half of a couple needs his own separate single membership if he wants to attend without his partner.

Important note before you pay for anything: First Taste Friday, the club’s newcomer night, includes free annual membership for couples and single ladies new to the club. If you are going to join anyway, that is the night to do it.

Entry is charged on top of that, and it varies by session rather than by anything else — the table below has the lot. Two things it does not show: non-members pay roughly £5 a head more on day sessions, and for Saturday event nights you can usually get onto the guest list through FabSwingers rather than joining.

Trans guests are priced at the single-ladies rate on every session, not the single-male rate. That is unusual enough in this market to be worth stating plainly.

The club has no alcohol licence, so there is no bar in the ordinary sense: you bring your own and the bar stores it for you, buying mixers and soft drinks there. Lockers take a £5 refundable key deposit, and the key doubles as your tab — everything is logged against the locker number and settled when you leave.

Monday is a straightforward daytime session, open to everyone, and the quietest slot on the calendar.

Tuesday is Men Only Naturist Day, 11am to 10pm, men only, dress down on arrival, around £15. It is the one session built entirely around single men rather than rationing them.

Wednesday is event night at Pandoras, and it runs twice a month rather than weekly. The first Wednesday is DVS, a dedicated kink and fetish night. Note that this one is not a swinging event at all, requires separate DVS membership, and is organised through FetLife. Last Wednesday is Bukkake Brunch, a daytime event from 11am. Wednesdays without an event, the club is closed.

Thursday is Bisexual Day, 11am through to midnight, open to everyone, at day-session prices.

Friday splits into a daytime session and a members’ night running to 2am. Several Fridays carry named events — First Taste Friday, and Shades of Seduction, the club’s interracial party.

Saturday is the big one. The daytime session runs as usual, then the night is almost always a hosted event: recent and upcoming names include the Purposely Purple Party, Halloween Spooky Affairs, House of Debauchery 7, Rock N Metal Night, OUTRAGEOUS, Sam’s Big Birthday Bash and the Pandora Christmas Party, alongside recurring favourites like Roman Rampage, Twisted, and Curvy Kittens.

That hosted-event model is central to how Pandora works and is not well explained anywhere. Many of the busiest nights are run by outside hosts — Arcadian Events, swingfellow, Redcountdown, Hanky_Panky and others — who bring their own crowd, theme, DJ and games. It is why the club can feel like two different venues depending on the night, and why checking who is hosting matters more here than at a smaller club.

Sunday is Relaxed Sunday, 1pm to 11pm, open to all, at day prices. Ten hours, no event, no pressure.

The top floor, and what it means for single men

This is the rule that defines Pandora and the single most common reason people choose it.

Playrooms occupy the first and second floors. The first floor is open to everyone. The entire top floor is out of bounds to single men — the club’s stated reason is that couples and single women should be able to use the club without single-male attention. It is enforced by staff, and breaking it means getting dressed and leaving. The only exceptions are Biphoria nights and fetish events, when the top floor opens up.

Single men are not admitted to every session either; the calendar says which. On couples-only nights, two single men may not come in as a couple, and throuples cannot attend couples-only events — the club’s reasoning being that it would not be fair on the other couples.

The effect, consistently reported, is that women and couples describe feeling able to relax here in a way that is rare, with visible staff presence upstairs on busy nights. For single men the trade is at least explicit, and stated up front rather than discovered at the door.

LGBTQ+ guests are welcome at every event, with dedicated events through the year, including the bisexual days. One caveat the club states and we will repeat rather than gloss: same-sex couples pay individual prices on nights that are not LGBTQ+ specific.

The age range runs from 18 to the seventies. The club puts the typical evening crowd in its early to mid thirties, which is younger than most venues of this kind.

Dress code

Smart casual downstairs, and it is strictly enforced rather than nominally stated — no tracksuits, hoodies, torn jeans, hats, caps or shorts, with tracksuits singled out for an outright ban on Friday and Saturday nights. Men are expected in trousers, a shirt and smart shoes. Women can wear anything from clubwear to lingerie, or a towel.

Upstairs is dress-down, with no exceptions. Street clothes are not permitted in the playroom floors at all; naked is entirely acceptable.

Fetish nights carry their own dress code — rubber, leather, uniforms or PVC, with black as a fallback. The Pandora club staff asks that you cover up when arriving and leaving in respect of neighbours, and there is a cloakroom for coats.

Inside the Pandora Club

The ground floor is the social half of the club: lounges with leather sofas, a large bar, six big screens, a free pool table and a sprung dance floor with a pole that gets more use than you might expect. The wet area — swimming pool, large jacuzzi and sauna — sits off the lounge rather than tucked away, which makes it a sociable space rather than a functional one, and it is where a lot of first-timers find their feet.

Upstairs, sixteen playrooms across two floors, each different, plus a dungeon that comes in for more praise than any other single feature of the building. There is a cinema. Sex is permitted anywhere except the toilets, the pool and the jacuzzi.

The practical rules are sensible. An open playroom door is not an automatic invitation — you need to ask. A closed door means privacy. Antibacterial wipes, sprays and tissues are free throughout, towels come from the bar at two per person, and you are expected to lay one down. Condoms are sold at the bar. Smoking is confined to a heated shelter with infrared heaters.

The honest part: the changing rooms are in poor condition. Broken floor tiles, ceiling damage in places and mats that need replacing, reported as recently as this month. The main club is kept clean and that contrast is stark. The hot tub and sauna have also been out of service on at least one recent occasion, so if the wet area is the reason you are going, it is worth a phone call first.

The crowd

Younger than the Leeds average for this kind of venue, and large enough that the atmosphere depends almost entirely on the night. An event Saturday can run to two or three hundred people with every room in use. A quiet midweek session in a building this size can feel close to empty — that is the consistent trade-off, and the club’s scale cuts both ways.

Staff are what people come back for at Pandora. Sam and Dean are named repeatedly, security included, and the tour-and-rules briefing given to newcomers is more than most clubs bother with. Among single women in particular, Pandora has a reputation for taking safety seriously, with staff visible on the upper floors during busy events.

If it’s your first time

Go to First Taste Friday if the date works; failing that, Relaxed Sunday gives you ten hours and no pressure.

Apply early whatever you choose, especially as a single man — the online process takes up to a week and you cannot shortcut it at the door. Bring your photo ID, bring your own alcohol, and leave your phone in the car. Ask for the tour.

Pros and cons

In its favour: scale, and facilities few UK clubs match · a couples-and-single-ladies floor that is actually enforced · cheap annual membership · a reputation among single women for taking safety seriously · staff people come back for · a hosted-event calendar with real variety · trans guests priced fairly · a dungeon regulars rate highly · published last-entry times · a thirty-something average age.

Against it: changing rooms in poor repair · a wet area that has been out of service at times · big enough to feel dead on a quiet session · a dated fit-out with the warehouse still showing through · no alcohol licence · a harder, pricier door for single men · same-sex couples charged individual prices on standard nights · realistically a drive or a taxi.

The verdict

Pandora is the club you go to when you want room to move, and the hosted-event calendar means there is something different on most weeks of the year. For couples and single women the top floor is the headline: a part of the building where single men simply are not, enforced by staff rather than by signage, and that is what people come back for.

The reservations are about fabric and timing, not management. The changing rooms need money spent on them, the wet area has had reliability problems, and a venue this size lives or dies by how many people are in it — a quiet Monday afternoon in a three-floor warehouse is a quiet Monday afternoon. Only the first needs the club to do anything about it; the rest is a matter of picking your night.

So: is it worth joining? At £10 a couple or £5 for a single woman for a full year, the question barely needs asking. For single men it is a more considered £40, with a real application process and a floor you will not see, and the answer turns on how much the Tuesday naturist day and the first-floor rooms appeal.
